Kenny had earlier requested for our rooms to be at the new wing which they just renovated. We haven’t been to their old wing but the new rooms definitely look spacious and comfy.

After checking in, we took a cab to Mega Mall to do some shopping and settle our lunch at Gadeno New York Pizza & Steak. The avocado float is a must-try at this restaurant! Also, Gadeno offers a cozy ambience and the staff are quite friendly. And more importantly, the prices of their food / beverages are pretty attractive too. But somehow, I feel that their standard has dropped since the last time we visited them.

We then proceeded to Sport Massage Centre & Spa for our long-awaited massage. They have 4 outlets in Batam but we always frequent the one located next to Goodway Hotel and opposite Harmoni hotel. This place actually provides transportation if you are visiting them in a big group, so call them up to arrange for pick-up beforehand.

It is a no-frills place to experience a good massage - The staffs are relatively professional and the prices are pretty reasonable. While Singapore dollars are accepted, do note that the exchange rate they used is less favorable - So it will be at least 10% more expensive than if you pay in Indonesian Rupiahs.

No worries if you do not know Malay - These cards are provided at the massage centre for you to 'communicate' with the masseurs.

We had a quick dinner at KFC since it was already 8.30pm (Indonesia time) when our massage ended. We returned to our hotel after that and this is the end of Day 1.

02.05.09 (Saturday)

Breakfast was included, so we woke up early to eat at The Square Restaurant before going to the market to get some local fruits / preserved fruits.

We had arranged for the van from the massage centre to pick up us from our hotel after breakfast. We sort of ‘make use’ of their free service because the market was near to the massage centre. Haha! Nevertheless, some of the guys stayed for their 2-hour full body massage while the rest went to the market. Kenny, Violet Jie Jie, Luffs and I also booked slot for our 1.5-hour foot reflexology session (with hand and shoulder massage) after our market trip.

There was nothing much we could do after the massage, so we got the van to bring us back to our hotel. We washed up and did our check-out before having our lunch at The Square Restaurant (again!).

We took our time to enjoy lunch since our ferry back to Singapore was only at 5pm and that makes the end of our short getaway!
