Our Paper Anniversary ♥

I have heard so many comments / reviews about Rochester Park and have been wanting to check out the place for the longest time. The houses there used to be colonial bungalows but have now been converted into standalone pubs and restaurants.

Luffs kept me in suspense and refused to reveal our makan place until when we got there. He actually made a reservation at Graze @ Rochester Park for our anniversary!

Graze
4 Rochester Park
Tel: 6775 9000

http://www.graze.com.sg/

Graze, a contemporary Australian restaurant, is located in a colonial style black-and-white house set amidst lush tropical foliage. Matthew Lawdorn (shown in the bottom left photo below), founding chef of this restaurant, was responsible for crafting Graze’s exceptional homemade cuisine.

The photos in the above collage are taken from their website or off the internet.

This place is totally awesome with greenery and water features that run through the place. Even their menus and name cards are so uniquely made!

That’s the happy us sitting at the alfresco lounge!

Inside the dining area

Yummilicious drinks - Lychee for Luffs and Strawberry + Kiwi for Lingz!

We went for the set menu.

After being seated, we were served this oyster shooter served with ginger wine wasabi and cucumber oil. Those who know me will know how much I detest wasabi but surprisingly this dish turned out quite well.

For the entrée, Luffs chose the tiger prawns which were prepared in 3 different styles : tempura, chilled and pan tossed and I had the salt and pepper grilled sea scallops. Both dishes were extremely fresh!

The main courses took a while to be served - Luffs had the lamb cutlets and I took the pork hock. We were quite against the pork hock initially because both of us cannot stand fatty meat but the waitress assured us that the fats were very minimal.

We were already quite full when the desserts were served. We chose the bittersweet chocolate tart and the pudding plate since it is Graze’s signature dish (I think)! Luffs also got the chef to write “Happy 1st Anniversary” on the plate - Very sweet of him but unfortunately they spelt “anniversary” wrongly? Haha…

Thumbs up for both the ambience and food, but I guess I should also give credit to the service staff of Graze. The service they rendered is, without a doubt, five stars! The waiters / waitresses are so professional, prompt and dedicated.

That's all for the dinner part! I totally enjoyed my time at Graze and really appreciate all the effort Luffs has put in to make this anniversary a special and memorable one!

* hugz *

We headed to our 'secret' (not really a secret lah) dating place after that before heading home.

♥ ♥ ♥

Now to the presents part!

Hehe… As mentioned in
my blog entry dated 08 August
, I bought 2 pairs of Rockport shoes for Luffs - I told him that will be his anniversary present because I really ran out of ideas on what to get for him. Both pairs are of the same design, just different colours.

Black

Brown

Anniversary gifts are always so troublesome because they need to be unique and fresh every year. But the most important year is the first wedding anniversary so I wanted to do something more special for Luffs. Shoes are just so not creative gifts for anniversaries!

I chanced upon this scrapbooking workshop (conducted by Canon and Craft In Vogue on 15 August) and got Jocelin to attend the workshop with me. Both of us were rather disappointed because the facilitators were basically trying to promote their new Selphy printer and we left the place not doing anything but just bringing home some free materials that they provided.

But I was determined to do something for Luffs, so I bought some extra materials and headed back to brainstorm some ideas.

Below shows the planning progress.

This is the end product - Not very creative but I tried my best, yah?

On top of that, I have also ordered before hand some cupcakes from Cake & Crumbs to be sent to his office. The cupcakes did not really turn out to be what I have expected but Luffs said they were nice?

Somehow, I think many people cannot spell "Anniversary"? The spelling on the cupcakes was incorrect too. Hehe...

That is all that I have prepared for Luffs, so what did he do for me other than the dinner date?

He bought me a Brilliant Rose - A very nice pendant + necklace from Soo Kee’s Brilliant Rose series! The photos below probably did not do justice to this pretty piece of jewellery but I totally ♥ it.

Thank you so much, Luffs!

That’s not all!

He ordered flowers and delivered the bouquet to my office. I felt so pai seh when the delivery guy came and the whole office thought 18 August was my birthday.

The flowers came with a small card and a sweet sweet message from Luffs!

* blush *

That is the end of our special day.

Although we did not do anything "extraordinary" for each other, I am glad we made it all the way through the first year of matrimony and promise to love each other more than ever.

I ♥ you, Luffs!

You Are My Sunshine

Love brought us together as husband and wife,
And gave each of us a best friend for life!

♥ Happy Anniversary ♥

Today may only be our 1st anniversary as husband and wife but I believe that hearts that love deeply can never grow old.

You like to ask why I love you but I really think there is no ONE particular reason why - I just ♥ you, darling!

But there are many things I love about YOU :-

☀ YOU complete me!

☀ YOU never fail to put the smile on my face.

☀ YOU have no qualms about drying my tears.

☀ YOU carry my heavy shopping bags.

☀ YOU massage for me whenever I complain about having headaches.

☀ YOU stop doing other activities so that we can spend time together.

☀ YOU make me laugh and cry at the same time.

☀ YOU are understanding when I throw tantrums during that time of the month.

☀ YOU cook for me and the food is always yummilicious.

.
.
.
.

And many many more...

Lastly, a BIG thank you to you for always loving me so much!

Aftermath of UP

Lingz took the train with the UP advertisement this morning. She was all excited and sent a SMS to Luffs.

Lingz : I'm in the train now... The UP train! Woohoo...

Luffs : Haha! Look out for Fredricksen! He may let go balloons! Haha. Or look out for Russell! He may want to help old people out the train. Then later help liao MRT door close then he will stand outside and say "Please let me in!".

Lingz : That's a good one, dear! I am going to keep this message and blog about it later! Haha, Russell is in front of me now with his red balloon and floating away! =) Not many old people to help at this hour I guess! Mostly sleepy executives / working adults snoring away in their seats...

Hmm... That must be the aftermath of watching UP!

Russell is so cute!

Olympus E-P1

Jocelin first introduced this camera to me last month, but I did not pay much attention to it because I am happy with my Panasonic Lumix. Recently, she was at it again and she got me hooked / tempted this time - Not because I needed a new camera, but I just like its classic look.

Olympus E-P1 is a new Micro Four Thirds camera which upholds the legacy of the celebrated PEN family of cameras, with the photographic optics of an SLR and the size and simplicity of a point and shoot. So basically it is like a compact camera wif DSLR features!

That's not all! This pretty little thing comes in white, my favourite colour!

Oh well, its price tag is not something I want to look at because I definitely will not bear to part with my money to get this camera.

Olympus Promotion at Alan Photo

E-P1 Body + 14-42mm Lens = S$1,298

E-P1 Body + 17mm Lens = S$1,448

E-P1 Body + 14-42mm Lens + 17mm Lens = S$1,598

Expensive right? But heard from Jocelin that this model (in white) is out of stock everywhere!

* Jocelin, got stock le then you go buy. Okie? Then I can play with it! *

Anyway, you can click on the links below to see some photos taken using the E-P1 :

Long Weekend Gone...

I am so glad National Day fell on a Sunday this year so we get the next day off as well!

H
ad the chance to sleep in before heading down to Changi to “throw flowers” for Gong Gong Sng Chwee Beng. It has been 3 years since he left us but he still lives in our hearts. Luffs and I have always been very grateful to him (and always will!) because somehow we felt that he was the one who brought us together.

It was raining when we got to Changi so we decided to have our nasi lemak lunch at Changi Village Food Centre first. We ended up ordering more than just nasi lemak but I only took 1 photo - Specially for Kenny Boy because I know how much he misses Singapore food.

Kenny Boy, you have to make do with photos first since you are some 6,031 km away from us. We will go for some good Singapore makan when you return in December, yah?

The sky was clear again after lunch and we proceeded to Changi Beach Park to “throw flowers”. Once again, I took these photos for Kenny Boy because he was not able to join us this year. Actually Violet Jie was present too, but somehow she was not in the photos because she was standing right beside me when I was taking the shots.

I shall end off this post with the photo below - So many planes flew past when we were at the beach and I managed to capture this (although not very well taken).

I am always reminded of Kenny Boy whenever I see aeroplanes now.

Kenny Boy, jia you! Yah?

We are all looking forward to seeing you fly one of these planes in future!

UPlifting Adventure!

The whole family went for dim sum breakfast at Fortunate Restaurant @ Toa Payoh with 舅舅, 舅母 and my 2 表妹. As usual, we ordered a lot of food and were filled to the brim within 45 minutes (or even less than that). Haha… I was too busy eating, so no photos were taken.

Luffs had to work, so the rest of us went to AMK Hub for some desserts as well as to purchase our movie tickets. Sweet Spring offers both hot and cold desserts - Overall, their desserts were good but I felt they were kind of overpriced. After that, I went home and nua-ed for the rest of the afternoon while waiting for Luffs to knock off.

Movie was at 7.45pm and we went on a double date - Luffs and I with Maggie Jie and Harald! We were early so I brought Luffs to Sweet Spring since he was not able to join us earlier this morning when we were there.

Luffs playing with the beancurd scoop while waiting for our order to be served.

Now back to the movie that we watched - I am sure those who have watched UP will agree that this movie is Pixer’s most UPlifting adventure so far! Even its official website is so nice and colourful!

http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/up/

Synopsis
Up is described as a "comedic adventure" starring a 78-year man named Carl Fredricksen, who "spent his entire life dreaming of exploring the globe and experiencing life to its fullest". Due to his age, he thinks life has "passed him by". One day, however, a "twist of fate", and an 8-year old "Wilderness Explorer" named Russell, changes his outlook on life. The pair goes on adventures, encountering "wild terrain", "unexpected villains" and "jungle creatures".

The opening sequence of UP (telling the love story Carl and Ellie) was filled with emotions - I sat in my seat trying to visualize what Luffs and I will become as we grow old together. Hehe…

Anyway, that’s Luffs and Maggie Jie trying to take photos with Russell before the movie. I bought the UP combo which came with popcorn and drink. Look how happy Maggie Jie is with the UP cup!

UP Combo!

Oh ya! Does Russell look like Luffs? Or maybe more like Kenny Boy?

*oppies*

I'm So Happy!

Ever since Luffs started his job at OCBC, we rarely have the chance to go out because he is ever so busy (with work + tests + clients). To add to that, he has to work on weekends as well!

Oh well, I do get emotional about it at times but I guess it is a matter of getting used to it and I know very well that he is working so hard for our future. Anyway, Luffs decided to bring me out after his work today and I was glad he too (because I was too bored at home).

We went to Suntec City and Marina Square, hoping to catch UP but the tickets were all selling fast and only the front row seats are available. So we ended up not watching any movie. Anyway, they had some National Day exhibition thingy at Marina Square and we saw Bernard’s award-winning photo!

Congratulations, Bernard!

Singapore My Home Photography Competition
2nd Prize : Our Young Singaporeans

Dinner was then settled at Waraku.

Waraku - Marina Branch
6 Raffles Boulevard #01-213

Tel: 6883 1123

Not sure when they changed the menu (or maybe it has been a long time since I last patronized them), but I thought the standard has dropped. Anyway I still enjoyed the dinner tremendously because it was the company that matters!

We shopped around after dinner and managed to find Luffs’ working shoes. Rockport was having 70 % off on selected items and their shoes are like the only shoes that Luffs can fit into because he wears size 13!

My day ended on a happy note even though I did not manage to get anything for myself. All because I got the chance to go out with my ♥! Hehe…

生日快乐, 新加坡!

National Day is only 2 days away!

Happy 44th Birthday, Singapore!

Luffs and I like this year's NDP theme song by Electrico.

What Do You See?
Composition & Lyrics by Electrico

There’s a jewel on the ocean,
a gem upon the sea
Where the future is an open book
A land of destiny
We could set our sights into the wind and sail the seven seas
or climb the highest mountain top as long as we believe
What do you see? What do you see?

See the moon and the stars, look how far we have come
Look around at our faces, they shine brightly in the sun
With our hopes and dreams, imagine what tomorrow it may bring
What do you see? What do you see?

Now the time has come to reach out,
To open up to see
That we stand together in this land
Cos we are family
As thoughts of reaching to the sky are carried on a dream
With hearts and minds united, our dreams we will achieve
What do you see? What do you see?

See the moon and the stars, look how far we have come
Look around at our faces, they shine brightly in the sun
With our hopes and dreams, imagine what tomorrow it may bring
What do you see…

What do you see when life makes you take on a mountain
You’ll see that nothing’s gonna stand in your way
Together we can share
The strength of a million
and the courage of a million more

See the moon and the stars, look how far we have come
Look around at our faces, they shine brightly in the sun
With our hopes and dreams, imagine what tomorrow it may bring
Cos the sky’s the only limit when you’re not afraid to dream
What do you see? What do you see…
