Kudamono = Fruits

This looks very much like my lunch?!!

No, they are actually fruit notes called Kudamemo (which is derived from the Japanese word Kudamono, meaning fruits).

Each memo notepad sits vertically like an apple or a pear, with realistic seed design and a twig stem. These Kudamemo notes are sold both individually or in a cute crate of 6.

They look like real fruits right? Haha!
These "fruity" notepads are so cute!

However, they do not come cheap - A single fruit memo costs approximately USD 19.60 while a crate of 6 has a hefty price tag of USD 118!

Jellyhearts ♥

I first ate jellyhearts back in my University days and had a sudden craving for it at the beginning of this week, so I went to Google for it.

Each piece of jellyheart is made up of a heart-shaped strawberry encased in strawberry jelly, over a thin cheesecake layer and a digestive biscuit base.

I ordered 2 big boxes and 2 small boxes so the boss was nice enough to deliver my order to my office (at zero cost).

Jellyhearts does not seem to have a website - Anyone who is interested in placing orders can call or send a message to 9459 7711.

Small Box (as shown in the first photo) : 10 pieces @ S$9.00

Big Box (as shown in the second photo) : 20 pieces @ S$16.00

Order the big box because it is cheaper and it is definitely worth buying because jellyhearts are yummilicious!

Eventful Wednesday!

It was an eventful 22 July 2009.

First : Maggie Jie and Harald were knocked down by a car.

They were riding to the airport (to send Kenny Boy off) when a white car hit them from behind, causing them to be thrown off the motorcycle. Harald was pinned down by the bike while Maggie Jie was in a state of shock. Thank God that both of them were not seriously injured and also for the help rendered by 2 good Samaritans!

Second : Kenny left us for Melbourne to pursue his dreams.

Many of us, both relatives and friends, were at the airport to bid farewell to Kenny Boy. Everyone was joking and laughing initially but the mood started to change when it was time for Kenny to go through the departure gates - Many shed tears, including myself! I am sure those were tears of sadness and joy.

Below are some photos we took!

Family

Friends

Third : Luffs lost his cool because of an idiot we met at his house carpark!

I do not want to elaborate on the incident. Luffs did not do anything to that guy but I think this is the first time I saw Luffs so angry?

Beauty Of Dreams

I had mixed feelings when I first got to know this piece of good news in May / June - Mixed feelings of excitement and sadness. Nevertheless, the day still came faster than we all could imagine! I hate scenes of farewell and departures so I really do not know how I would react later at the airport.

Flight No.
EK404 (Terminal 1)

Destination
Melbourne

Time of Departure
2230 hours

Anyway, below is a story to share :-

Follow Your Dream
by Jack Canfield (Chicken Soup for the Soul)

I have a friend named Monty Roberts who owns a horse ranch in San Ysidro. He has let me use his house to put on fund-raising events to raise money for youth at risk programs.

The last time I was there he introduced me by saying, "I want to tell you why I let Jack use my house. It all goes back to a story about a young man who was the son of an itinerant horse trainer who would go from stable to stable, race track to race track, farm to farm and ranch to ranch, training horses. As a result, the boy's high school career was continually interrupted. When he was a senior, he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up.

"That night he wrote a seven-page paper describing his goal of someday owning a horse ranch. He wrote about his dream in great detail and he even drew a diagram of a 200- acre ranch, showing the location of all the buildings, the stables and the track. Then he drew a detailed floor plan for a 4,000-square-foot house that would sit on a 200-acre dream ranch.

"He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day he handed it in to his teacher. Two days later he received his paper back. On the front page was a large red F with a note that read, 'See me after class.'

"The boy with the dream went to see the teacher after class and asked, 'Why did I receive an F?'

"The teacher said, 'This is an unrealistic dream for a young boy like you. You have no money. You come from an itinerant family. You have no resources. Owning a horse ranch requires a lot of money. You have to buy the land. You have to pay for the original breeding stock and later you'll have to pay large stud fees. There's no way you could ever do it.' Then the teacher added, 'If you will rewrite this paper with a more realistic goal, I will reconsider your grade.'

"The boy went home and thought about it long and hard. He asked his father what he should do. His father said, 'Look, son, you have to make up your own mind on this. However, I think it is a very important decision for you.'

"Finally, after sitting with it for a week, the boy turned in the same paper, making no changes at all. He stated, 'You can keep the F and I'll keep my dream.'"

Monty then turned to the assembled group and said, "I tell you this story because you are sitting in my 4,000- square-foot house in the middle of my 200-acre horse ranch. I still have that school paper framed over the fireplace." He added, "The best part of the story is that two summers ago that same schoolteacher brought 30 kids to camp out on my ranch for a week." When the teacher was leaving, he said, 'Look, Monty, I can tell you this now. When I was your teacher, I was something of a dream stealer. During those years I stole a lot of kids' dreams. Fortunately you had enough gumption not to give up on yours.'"

★ ★ ★

Don't let anyone steal your dreams.

Follow your heart, no matter what.

All the best, Kenny Boy!

McDonald's Cinnamon Melts

Instead of the usual fare of burgers and fries, McDonald's has recently introduced their new addition - And I finally tried it! I like the direction that McDonald’s is taking because diversity is good. “Variety is the spice of life” and in this case, the spice is cinnamon.

Photo taken from http://ievan-darwin.livejournal.com/3895.html

McDonald's Cinnamon Melts are one of the best cinnamon breads!

The cinnamon sugar glaze is good and it has a nice crystallized crunch to it. To add to that, the bread is really warm, fluffy and soft. The taste is heavenly sweet and I am totally in ♥ with it.

It is a must-try for all cinnamon lovers! (Maggie Jie, you are one big fan of Auntie Anne's Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel so you have to try this.)

However, this is not something I will buy on a regular basis because this oh-so-delicious snack comes with 460 calories, 19 grams of fat, 9 grams of saturated fat and 32 grams of sugar. Haha!

The Canelé premises also house the production kitchen which supplies the restaurants with an assortment of bread, pastries and even customised chocolates for special events and banquets.

Below are some photos showing the interiors of Canelé Pâtisserie Chocolaterie @ Robertson Walk.

2 of our main courses were entitled to 50% off because they are now having some promotion at their Shaw Centre and Robertson Walk outlets.

Zaryl went back to her office to continue with her work after dinner, so Joel and I decided that we should not and will not pick a makan place so near her office the next time we meet (to prevent her from going back to do work). Haha!

Huggies ♥

I ♥ hugs!

They just do wonders, don't they?

Hugging is good medicine.

It transfers energy, and gives the person hugged an emotional boost.

You need four hugs a day for survival, eight for maintenance, and twelve for growth.

A hug makes you feel good.

The skin is the largest organ we have and it needs a great deal of care. A hug can cover a lot of skin and gives the message that you care.

It is also a form of communication. It can say things you don't have words for.

The nicest thing about a hug is that you usually can't give one without getting one.

Before & After Marriage

Just for laughs !

Before marriage ...

He: Yes. At last. It was so hard to wait.

She: Do you want me to leave?

He: No! Don't even think about it.

She: Do you love me?

He: Of course! Over and over!

She: Have you ever cheated on me?

He: No! Why are you even asking?

She: Will you kiss me?

He: Every chance I get.

She: Will you hit me?

He: Are you crazy! I'm not that kind of person!

She: Can I trust you?

He: Yes.

She: Darling!

Click! Click!

Luffs and I went on a search-for-a-camera mission this afternoon after our hair-cut. We brought my parents and Maggie Jie along too.

Courts was having some massive clear-out sale, so we thought we could get some good bargains there. Before we commenced on our mission, we settled for lunch at IKEA Restaurant. As usual, the place was so crowded but I did not mind waiting because of my ♥ for IKEA's Swedish meatballs and chicken wings!

Courts was not having such good deals afterall - At least not for what we wanted, so we headed to Sim Lim Square and bought a Nikon Coolpix S610 for Kenny Boy!

It might not be the best or most expensive digital camera around but it is the thought that counts I suppose? This camera is our gift to Kenny Boy before he leaves for Melbourne at the end of this month.

Kenny Boy: Remember to take many photos for us, yah?

Ice Age 3

Luffs and I have not been visiting the cinemas a lot lately because Luffs has been so busy. The last movie that we watched together was Angels & Demons (back in May)!

We have heard many good reviews for Transformers, but Luffs eventually chose Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. He was working the whole day today so we only managed to catch the movie at AMK Hub late at night.

" The sub-zero heroes from the worldwide blockbusters "Ice Age" and "Ice Age: The Meldown" are back, on an incredible adventure...for the ages. Scrat is still trying to nab the ever-elusive nut (while, maybe, finding true love); Manny and Ellie await the birth of their mini-mammoth; Sid the sloth gets into trouble when he creates his own makeshift family after finding some dinosaur eggs; and Diego the saber-toothed tiger wonders if he's growing too 'soft' hanging with his pals. On a mission to rescue the hapless Sid, the gang ventures into a mysterious underground world, where they have some close encounters with dinosaurs, battle flora and fauna run amok - and meet a relentless, one-eyed, dino-hunting weasel named Buck. "

AWESOME animation with lively dialogue - The 1 hour 30 minutes was all good fun and non-stop laughter! The baby animals were just so ADORABLE especially Baby Peaches.

A must-watch show for people of all ages!

Watch the 3D version if possible.

Bring on Ice Age 4!

Creative Ideas

Chair

An inspiration from the American contemporary artist Joseph Kosuth, One and Three Chair. Instead of giving new definition, Eric Ku redefined the concept of a chair by using alphabet. One is able to construct a chair by assembling the redesigned alphabets.

---------------------------------------------

2-D Lamp

2-D lamp is a black and white table lamp poster that comes with a bulb behind it. The idea is to give a two-dimensional object functionality.
