♥ I Finally Found Someone ♥

This entry marks the 100th post on our blog and I want to make this more than just a talk-about-our-daily-lives entry. I have intentions to dedicate this post to Luffs! However, I think my creative cells are so dead that I cannot think of how I can make this more interesting.

Anyway, I chanced upon this video on YouTube and am loving the song since then. Great music and style - I told Jane over MSN that I want this to be my wedding song!

I have found my someone and am happily in love - Hope everyone find theirs too!

================================================

Every moment spent with you reminds me of how lucky we are to still be in love despite the ups and downs, to still make the effort to meet each other no matter how busy we are, and to still have a million things to tell and share with each other.

Thank you for being there for me, my love! I know sometimes, things may get a little dull and not as rosy as desired but I am sure we will be able to get it fixed somehow.

I ♥ you, Boy Boy Tan! In all good and bad times… And you know I am so proud to have you as my love.

================================================

I Finally Found Someone
By Bryan Adams & Barbra Streisand

I finally found someone
That knocks me off my feet
I finally found the one
That makes me feel complete

It started over coffee
We started out as friends
It’s funny how from simple things
The best things begin

This time is different
And it’s all because of you
It’s better than it’s ever been
‘Cause we can talk it though

My favorite line was
“Can I call you sometime?”
It’s all you had to say
To take my breath away

This is it, oh I finally found someone
Someone to share my life
I finally found the one
To be with every night

‘Cause whatever I do
It’s just got to be you
My life has just begun
I finally found someone

Did I keep you waiting?
I didn’t mind
I apologize, baby that’s fine
I would wait forever just to know you were mine

You know I love your hair.
Are you sure it looks right?
I love what you wear.
Isn’t it too tight?

You’re exceptional
I can’t wait for the rest of my life

This is it, oh I finally found someone
Someone to share my life
I finally found the one
To be with every night

‘Cause whatever I do
It’s just got to be you
My life has just begun
I finally found someone

And whatever I do
It’s just got to be you
My life has just begun
I finally found someone

Dinner @ Nihon Mura

As usual, I have cravings for Japanese food again! Haha… So I decided to date Luffs and Ah Pie for dinner at Nihon Mura @ Yio Chu Kang Stadium. Both of them are sashimi fans as well - Goodie!

Nihon Mura
Yio Chu Kang Stadium
210 Ang Mo Kio Ave 9 #01-212
Singapore 569777
Tel: 6555 3655

Nihon Mura means Japanese village and the name also captures the concept of this Japanese marketplace-style eatery. You use ice cream sticks to place your order as you roam from one section to another, and your meal will be prepared right in front of you at the open-concept kitchen. There is also very affordable conveyor-belt sushi!

Luffs and I used to visit their outlet at IRAS very often (because of their 99 cents sushi), but not so frequent now because we are suppose to abstain from rice. Anyway, the 3 of us had a good time chatting and laughing over dinner. Didn’t manage to take many photos though - Too busy eating and talking! Haha...

Some of the food we order...

Luffs’ typical “wasabi” face!

Self torturing right? But he likes the feeling!

First Case of H1N1

Singapore Confirms First Case Of H1N1
Posted: 27 May 2009 1033 hrs

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/432062/1/.html

SINGAPORE: Singapore has confirmed its first case of Influenza A (H1N1).

The patient is currently being treated at the Communicable Disease Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and is in stable condition.

The patient is a 22-year-old Singaporean woman who was in New York from May 14-24. She arrived back in Singapore from New York on SQ25 on 26 May at 6.30am. She was seated at Row 55.

She began to develop a cough while onboard. She passed the thermal scanner uneventfully as she did not have fever then.

Later in the morning, she consulted a GP who decided to send her to TTSH via a 993 ambulance, given her travel history.

She was immediately admitted for testing. Laboratory confirmation of her infection was made by midnight of 26 May.

The patient has been vigilant in monitoring her own condition and had sought immediate medical attention once she realized that she was unwell.

Her attending GP, through his quick response in activating the 993 ambulance for the patient, had also helped to minimize the spread of infection from this case.

The Health Ministry says it has initiated contact tracing of her close contacts. They will be quarantined and provided with antiviral prophylaxis.

Passengers who had travelled in the same flight and were seated in rows 52 to 58 are urged to call the hotline at 1800-333 9999 to enable the MOH to check on their health condition.

The MOH adds that all medical practitioners and healthcare institutions should continue to be vigilant to suspect cases.

Singapore will continue with temperature screening for passengers entering Singapore at all checkpoints (land, sea and air).

All passengers passing through or entering Singapore are given Health Alert Notices on board their flights, advising them to monitor their own health if they have been to affected areas and to seek medical attention immediately if they are not well.

Singaporeans are reminded to maintain high standards of personal hygiene. This means covering your nose and mouth with a tissue when you sneeze or cough, and washing your hand frequently with soap and water, especially after contact with respiratory secretions, for example, after sneezing and coughing.

Everyone also needs to be socially responsible. This means staying home and avoiding crowded places (including trains, buses, offices), putting on a surgical mask and seeing a doctor if you have flu symptoms.

MOH advises those who travelled to affected areas to closely monitor their health and seek treatment as soon as possible should they develop symptoms.

Members of the public are also advised to exercise caution over travel to affected areas.

In the event that travel is unavoidable, the public is advised to take precautionary measures such as avoiding crowded areas and maintaining high standards of personal hygiene at all times.

However, if you are unwell with fever and cough but have no travel history to affected areas, you are also advised to see a doctor and stay at home.

MOH is monitoring the situation closely and will update the public should there be any new developments.

For more information on Influenza A (H1N1-2009), you can :

Buckaroo BBQ & Grill

Luffs has been busy preparing for his M5 exam recently and we decided to spend some time together after his paper. We headed to Buckaroo BBQ & Grill for some buffalo wings feast.

Buckaroo BBQ & Grill
12B Andrews Avenue
(near Bottle Tree Park)
Tel: 6481 4986

Buffalo wing is one of the popular choices on their menu - You can choose different degree of spiciness, starting from Level 1 up to Level 10. The wings are served with celery and carrot sticks and tossed in their special chilli sauce. It is definitely a must-try for those who love tongue torching, tonsil sizzling hot wings!

Level 1: Combustion Wings
Half dozen - $17.50
Full dozen - $26.80

Level 2: Volcano
Half dozen - $18.80
Full dozen - $27.80

Level 3: Insanity
Half dozen - $19.80
Full dozen - $28.80

For additional level up to Level 10, add $1.20 per level per half dozen.

We could not recall which level we tried the previous time, but Luffs was thoughtful enough to order only Level 2. Level 2 was manageable for me, so I think we can up the level on our next visit. Right, Luffs?

This time we ordered onion rings too! They were so yummy - The best onion rings I ever had and I ♥ the way the rings were served!

The service was fantastic with all their staff being very friendly! Honestly speaking, I feel that the prices are quite high but I will still patronize them for the ambience and good food. Best of all, Buckaroo does not charge GST and service charge. Also, there is “free" parking outside the restaurant since it is situated in the middle of private houses.

Anyway, Buckaroo closes at 10.30pm with their last food order at 10pm and they are closed on Tuesdays too.

So, enjoy!

Atria-Pan Dental

I finally went to the dentist today!

Luffs finds me weird - I told him visiting Atria-Pan Dental last year was the most enjoyable dental experience I ever had.

Dr Chua Chee Haow
B.D.S. (Singapore)
FRACDS (Australia)

Dr Chua graduated from NUS in 1990. During his undergraduate years, he served as vice-chairman of the freshmen orientation committee and dental society, and he was a member of the NUS Students Union Council. His association with Atria-Pan Dental group started in 1988, when he was a 3rd year dental student. He would spend his university holidays honing his clinical knowledge by assisting the dentists. Upon his graduation, he joined the group. Dr Chua obtained his FRACDS (Australia) in 1996.

As the current Clinical Director, he manages the operations for the main dental office and its branches. Dr Chua performs general dentistry for both adults and children. He also played a fundamental role in introducing the CEREC (CAD-CAM) system within the clinic.

He serves as a volunteer officer to the NCC unit and member of the School Advisory Committee in his alma mater, Gan Eng Seng School, and does volunteer works by providing free dental treatment in countries like Thailand and Cambodia.

★ ★ ★

Now, let me tell you why I 'enjoy' my dental visits :

The light above you is too bright?
You will be provided with a pair of sunglasses before you lie down.

Feeling scared whenever you visit a dentist?
The nurse will pass you a soft toy to hug before the dentist starts his work.

Don't like to hear the drilling sound?
The clinic provides a CD player and a pair of earphones for you to listen to some soothing music.

No-one to look after your kids when you go for your dental appointment?
Don't worry, they have a playroom right inside for your kids.
[This will be useful when I have my own kids next time.]

The overall feeling is really good although it can be painful at times (depending on what the dentist needs to do to your teeth).

We all should make it a point to visit the dentist every 6 months, so I arranged for my next dental appointment on the spot.

Date: 16 November 2009

You will receive a letter from us inviting to select a flat in June/ July 2009. As your queue number exceeds the number of flats on offer, whether you will be able to select a flat would depend on the availability of flats and ethnic quota when your turn is due.

Oh man!

Should we consider this a good queue number?

Should we pray that we will not be able to select a flat?

Arghhhhhh!

SRJC All For You

It has been awhile since I met my JC classmates and I finally met up with some of them for dinner today. Glad that Luffs went too and he got to know some of the crappiest people in my class.

Congratulations to Yuequn!
We went to Toy “R” Us before dinner and made a fool out of ourselves there. It was so funny to see everyone playing and joking around.

Anyway, dinner was at The Soup Restaurant @ Paragon.

The Soup Restaurant
290 Orchard Road
#B1-44 Paragon

Samsui Ginger Chicken - This is a must try yummy dish! Luffs and I first tried it when we had our Tan Family dinner at Novena some months back and are still loving it even though we normally only eat roasted chicken!

Now you see it ...

Now you don't!Because Nevin did a good job to the fish.

We were all perspiring after the dinner (the air conditioner in the restaurant was not functioning properly because of renovation works), so I suggested going for some cold desserts. Our original plan was to walk to Centrepoint for Haagen Dazs but Seow Xuan remembered there were some food stalls at Heeren Basement 1 after they revamped. So we went there and chanced upon Dessert Story.

Dessert Story
260 Orchard Road
#B1-02/03 The Heeren
Singapore 238859
Tel: 6737 6097

The desserts are abit pricey but it is all worth it because we really enjoyed ourselves there - Laughing our hearts out when we spoke about our good old JC days!

We parted our ways after dessert because we did not know where to go.

Some self-taken shoots with Yanqin and Ronnie before leaving
Thank you Ah Pie for organizing today’s gathering and I am looking forward to the next (in July hopefully)!

Ah Pie, the song below is dedicated to you. Hahaha…

SRJC Anthem
Lead us all to glory
A glory to be told.
Every step we take
Challenges ahead
We turn them all to gold
Learning for tomorrow
We find our dreams today
Reaching out along the way
Lending a hand
Being a friend
Growing each day
We lead her to glory
Our best in all we do
SRJC all for you
Your call is ours too
SRJC all for you
Your call is ours too

Angels & Demons

Hmm… Is this our 7th movie of the year? Luffs has been waiting for the screening of Angels & Demons after reading the book 4 times.

Synopsis
Adapted from the novel "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown, the film follows the story of Robert Langdon, a well-known Harvard symbologist investigating a murder victim, branded with the Illuminati ambigram. Following his investigation, he soon discovers that a cult group is on a trail to murder four cardinals and destroy the St. Peter's Basilica during a papal gathering.

I know I sucks, but I actually fell asleep in the theatre.

Oh well, Luffs said the show was good although it was abit different from the book.

So catch it if you can!

★ Happy Birthday ★

Happy Birthday, Mummy Sng!

♥ Luffs + Lingz

Luffs, Kenny and I somehow decided on this place when discussing where to bring Mummy Sng for her birthday dinner. Crystal Jade Ginseng Chicken & BBQ - Their name, to say the least, accurately describes what their specialties are.

Crystal Jade Ginseng Chicken & BBQ
Centrepoint #04-13/14/15
176 Orchard Road
Singapore 238843
Tel: 6737 3282

We opted for the Eat All You Can! ala carte and BBQ promotion which offered about 30 items with a fixed price. I think the weekday lunch (S$19.90++) and dinner (S$24.90++) pricings are pretty reasonable, but probably not so worth if it is at the weekend prices.

I totally love the ambience in the restaurant - The walls, the lightings etc. Also, each table has a grill plate for the BBQ and I must give credit to the massive vents in the restaurant for keeping the ventilation of the place acceptable.

Before we started eating ...

We were each given a bowl of authentic ginseng chicken soup and a king prawn (not very king though) for BBQ. The rest of the food items are free flow including the 6 appetizers served at the beginning of the meal.

Below are all the items on their buffet menu.

Appetizer
Seafood Pancake with Green Onion
Boiled Sliced Pork
Sauteed Vermicelli in Korean Style

Dishes
Sauteed Cuttlefish in Spicy Sauce
Sauteed Pork Fillet in Spicy auce
Sauteed Seasonal Vegetable
Grilled Mackerel

Rice & Noodles
Seafood Fried Rice
Kimchi Fried Rice
Fried Rice Flour Cake in Korean Style
Rice in Stone Cattle
Seafood Noodles

BBQ Selection
Pork
Spicy Pork
Fish Fillet
Spicy Fish Fillet
Cuttlefish
Spicy Cuttlefish
Chicken Gizzard
Chicken Wing
Sausage
Mussel

Soup
Seaweed Soup (Beef)
Soya Bean Paste Soup in Korean Style
Kimchi Soup in Korean Style
Spicy Seafood & Beancurd Soup

Dessert
Red Bean Paste
Coconut Sago
Fruit

* We order extra dessert because Luffs wanted to try their Crysathamum Tea & Wolfberry Water Chestnut Cake *

The dinner ended with a Swensen’s ice cream cake for the birthday girl!

Violet Jie Jie joined us for the cake cutting session since she was nearby. I was so full that I only took one serving of the Blackforest cake, leaving the 5 of them to finish the remainder.

It was indeed an enjoyable dinner with a great company of people!
