Soccer @ The Cage Accompanied Luffs to The Cage for his soccer game with his group of buddies - We were late, but I hope Luffs enjoyed himself after more than 6 months of being soccer-less (because of his finger injury). The Cage is Singapore’s first indoor soccer stadium! The Cage 38 Jalan Benaan Kapal Singapore 399635 (Information taken from http://www.thecage.com.sg/about.htm) The Cage is run by We Wanted to be Footballers Pte Ltd (WWTBF). “ The company is dedicated to the serious business of fun football for the recreational player or the “Sunday-morning-kickabout”. Football is the country’s most popular game and rightfully so. It is the most democratic of games – where economic or social standing really don’t matter at all. And the simplicity of the excitement delivered – camaraderie of a team, getting control of the ball, speed, trickery, power - cannot be matched by other games. Land scarce Singapore only seems to be able to the competitive footballer. The recreational player eventually turns to golf or tennis. WWTBF will change all of that. We will provide comfortable facilities that will deliver a new brand of football to all. ” It costs $50 to book the place for an hour on weekdays (before 6pm) and $90 per hour for weekdays (after 6pm) and weekends / public holiday - Not that cheap, but I guess soccer players will not mind paying for an indoor place to enjoy their game. I had to entertain myself when the boys were playing, so I went around the place to take some photos. Sad to say, all the photos suck because I don’t know how to use Luffs’ DSLR. Hahaha! Only this looks presentable - The painted wall at Pitch 3 with the counter in front where the staff will be seated. I think Luffs did not really like the idea of playing soccer indoor. He had a very claustrophobic feeling when he was playing (and wanted to vomit) - Maybe he is used to playing soccer outdoor and not in an enclosed space like The Cage. Some of the other boys felt the same too. Here’s a group photo to end the night with… Multi-racial friendship, yah? Nights, everyone! Thursday, February 26, 2009 @ 12:00 PM
Feisty Princess Charmaine This is Ah Pie's friend's niece - Charmaine Lim. Although I do not know her personally, it breaks my heart to hear of such news - I am sure everyone who knows about this will feel the same. Charmaine is only 3 years 7 months old and has just been diagnosed with 4th stage Neuroblastoma. She will be starting on her chemotherapy today. (Extracted from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuroblastoma) ** Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid cancer in childhood and the most common cancer in infancy, with an annual incidence of about 650 new cases per year in the US. Close to 50 percent of neuroblastoma cases occur in children younger than two years old. ]It is a neuroendocrine tumor, arising from any neural crest element of the sympathetic nervous system or SNS. A branch of the autonomic nervous system, the SNS is a nerve network that carries messages from the brain throughout the body and is responsible for the fight-or-flight response and production of adrenaline or epinephrine. Its solid tumors, which take the form of a lump or mass, commonly begin in one of the adrenal glands, though they can also develop in nerve tissues in the neck, chest, abdomen, or pelvis. Esthesioneuroblastoma, also known as olfactory neuroblastoma, is believed to arise from the olfactory epithelium and classification remains controversial. Since it is not a sympathetic nervous system malignancy it is a distinct clinical entity not to be confused with neuroblastoma. The cause of neuroblastoma is unknown, though most physicians believe that it is an accidental cell growth that occurs during normal development of the adrenal glands. Neuroblastoma is one of the rare human malignancies known to demonstrate spontaneous regression from an undifferentiated state to a completely benign cellular appearance. ** ♥ ♥ ♥ http://ourfeistyprincess.blogspot.com/ The above blog has been specially set up to gather all the help for Charmaine to defeat this monster. Please take some time to read and if possible, please help! ♥ ♥ ♥ Life is simply too fragile and it shows how much we need the Lord! People Need The Lord Everyday they pass me by, I can see it in their eyes. Empty people filled with care, Headed who knows where? On they go through private pain, Living fear to fear. Laughter hides their silent cries, Only Jesus hears. People need the Lord, People need the Lord. At the end of broken dreams, He's the open door. People need the Lord, People need the Lord. When will we realize, People need the Lord? We are called to take His light To a world where wrong seems right. What could be too great a cost For sharing Life with one who's lost? Through His love our hearts can feel All the grief they bear. They must hear the Words of Life Only we can share. People need the Lord, People need the Lord At the end of broken dreams, He's the open door. People need the Lord, People need the Lord. When will we realize that we must give our lives, For people need the Lord. People need the Lord. Tuesday, February 24, 2009 @ 3:05 PM
Far Far Away I wish I can go to a far away place where no-one knows me… Picture taken from http://art4linux.org/system/files/Dreamland-1600x1200.jpg Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7 (King James Version) I know that I can trust Him in every situation - Big or small! I know He will take care of us. A song I used to sing when I was younger just came to my mind... " I cast all my cares upon you I lay all of my burdens down at your feet And any time I don't know what to do I will cast all my cares upon you " Monday, February 23, 2009 @ 11:04 PM

The Pink Panther 2 3rd movie of the year - Luffs and I caught The Pink Panther 2 last evening! I did not watch Part 1, but Luffs commented that the first one was better. The story goes like this :- The Dream Team Somehow I managed to keep myself awake throughout the whole movie - An achievement for me! *applauds* Maybe because it is a comedy and I like the many expressions that Inspector Clouseau portrayed in the movie. World Grains Trade Summit I just returned to office today after attending a 2-day conference (World Grains Trade Summit) at Goodwood Park Hotel. This conference was the first of such event that I have attended and I really enjoyed the experience. I had the opportunity of meeting different people in the agri-commodities industry and hear their views of the business during this financial crunch. Below shows what we were provided during the conference. The most important item is of course the Polo sweets which helped to keep Alex and I awake. OPPZ! Other than the talks, the yummy food served during lunch / tea breaks shouldn’t be forgotten too! Attending conference really makes me grow fat. Hahaha! Click the link below for more photographs taken by the organisers :- http://www.futureenergyevents.com/worldgrains/worldgrains09gallery/index.htm --------------- I am one happy girl today because I finally got my office mobile line when I got into office with my … BLACKBERRY BOLD 9000 Something off my wishlist! *Lingz shouts for joy* Wednesday, February 18, 2009 @ 10:49 PM
Bye Bye Coral Spring 18 February 2009 - Today's our HDB appointment day! Luffs and I were supposed to go down to HDB to choose a unit at Coral Spring, but we decided to give it a miss after much consideration. [1] The remaining units left for us to choose weren't very fantastic. [2] We do not want to rush into it because we were not particularly in love with Seng Kang - Need to take LRT! [3] We still prefer Punggol because it will be more developed in future. Really hope we won't regret not going for the appointment. Anyway, wish us luck in our future balloting(s)! @ 12:00 AM
The Day I Fall In Love Time flies! It has been 6 months since Luffs and I exchanged our wedding vows at Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel on 18 August 2008. This was our march-in song that day. ♥♥♥ The Day I Fall In Love (Dolly Parton & James Ingram) Just an ordinary day Sunday, February 15, 2009 @ 11:00 AM
Valentine's Day Surprise! I had a good Valentine’s Day this year - Better than last year I would say and Luffs should know why. Hahaha! 14.02.09 (Saturday) Luffs surprised me by arranging our lunch at Flutes at the Fort although I told him we can do away with the Valentine’s Day meal since we only celebrated his birthday one week ago. I totally appreciated what he has planned although many people will probably say dinner would be a better choice. [Thank you, my love!] Flutes at the Fort Fort Canning Park Entrance through the Singapore Philatelic Museum’s carpark at 23B Coleman Street Flutes at the Fort is situated on the picturesque green slope at the Hill Street end of Fort Canning Park. Housed in a beautiful black and white bungalow which was built in 1908, it served as the old Fire Chiefs’ home. The Central Fire Station is clearly visible from the veranda and it isn’t hard to imagine how the Fire Chiefs of old stayed operationally ready all the time. (Photos taken from http://www.flutesatthefort.com.sg/index.php) The juices we ordered - Pineapple for me & orange for Luffs. Entrée Main CourseSalad of Crispy Chilli Spiced Calamari Cress & Crispy Shallot Salad, Sweet & Sour Chilli Dressing Grilled Victorian Lamb Rump Kipfer, Green Bean & Cherry Tomato, Black Olive Jus OR Dessert Tea or Coffee The lunch was good and I enjoyed myself - Thank you Luffs! Ah Pie is one BIG fan of fried man tou! One piece of the stingray is without chilli - Especially for Ah Pie! Delicious Baby Squid Luffs ♥ sweet & sour pork! Saturday, February 14, 2009 @ 12:00 AM

Quote of the Day Someone sent this to me through email ... ****************** Quote of the Day Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her a sperm, she will give you a baby. If you give her a house, she will give you a home. Thursday, February 12, 2009 @ 10:30 PM
正月十八 It is Grandma’s death anniversary today according to the lunar calendar although the date should be 24 February on the English one. Grandma followed the lunar calendar for everything when she was alive - Even for her birthday! Time flies! Grandma left us one year ago and we all miss her dearly. This one year has been a difficult period, especially for my uncle who has been very close to Grandma. She stayed with him and his family for as long as I can remember. Maggie Jie and I used to visit Grandma every week when we were yonuger - Because of this reason, we were much closer to Grandma as compared to our other cousins and she doted on us. Both of us will always look forward to going to Grandma’s house - Grandma was a great cook! We loved the kuehs and rice dumplings that she used to make when her eyesight was still ok. Grandma is one tough nut too! She loved to watch WWF - She could just sit in the living room and watch the whole day! Also, not forgetting the monthly Crime Watch on Channel 8. I will always get mum to call Grandma whenever Crime Watch is showing on TV and I have been doing the same till today even though Grandma has left us. Wednesday, February 11, 2009 @ 1:50 PM

Beautiful collage of the Flyer Luffs & Lingz on the Flyer 3-piece Chicken Meal07.02.09 (Saturday) Luffs’ Birthday Dinner It is only the 3rd year I am celebrating Luffs’ birthday with him, but seems like I have already ran out of ideas on how to surprise him. Oh well, blame it on my so-not-creative brain juices~ HAHAHA! My surprise for Luffs’ was that I’ve actually reserved a place to dine at Brazil Churrasco (Gillman Village). He has always wanted to try Mediterranean food, but I remembered it to be Brazilian food. Oh well! Better than nothing right? Anyway, some online research brought me to Brazil Churrasco. I have chosen its Gillman Village outlet over the Sixth Avenue one because I believe the ambience there would be better for such an occasion. I am so glad I made that choice… Luffs likes the place - The atmosphere / ambience / service / food! Brazil Churrasco (Gillman Village) 5 Lock Road Gillman Village Singapore 108933 Buffet price: $42++ Photos taken off their website Photos of the birthday boy! Parabéns pra você Interiors of Hi Sshou Its a-la-carte menu is at $29.90+ for adults and $24.90+ with a student pass (only 10% service charge and no GST). There are more than 80 items on the menu to choose from and a lot of them are really good! The servings are pretty reasonable, so it will be good to go in a group to enjoy the wide range of food on the menu. |
